Problem Statement

A colleague from a nearby university is working on an ad hoc faculty taskforce that has been asked to investigate “best practices” for teaching online. At this colleague’s institution, there has been a sharp increase in the number of online course offerings.

The taskforce has been asked to develop a brief guide of “best practices” that can be shared with fellow faculty members that are considering teaching online. This guide should accomplish two goals

  1. The guide should offer suggestions on ways to develop valuable learning experiences online
  2. The guide should include strategies that faculty members can use when teaching online

Your colleague has asked your group for help in developing this guide! They know that your group is currently participating in the Online Teaching Institute and are familiar with different approaches to teaching online. Your group has been asked to provide the taskforce with an example of a “best practices” guide they can share with their faculty members.

This week you will work in your small group to develop this "Guide for Best Practices"

To get started, follow these steps:

1. Review your assigned role: Click on the "schedule" page to review your group role.
2. Review the schedule: To assist your group, I encourage you to follow the schedule created are some defined checkpoints that I'd like you to meet.
3. Group Processing: After each checkpoint, head to the group processing page to share feedback with your group members.

Important Notes!

Do not use the Discussions area on Wikispaces. Instead, communicate with your group member in the space I provided for you within D2L.
